Apple today unveiled a slew of new products including a Red Special Edition iPhone 7, 9.7-inch iPad & more.
First up is the new (Product) Red Special Edition iPhone 7 & iPhone 7 Plus.It is announced in recognition of more than 10 years of partnership between Apple and (RED).The new red color joins the already existing iPhone 7 finishes in jet black, black, silver, gold and rose gold.
The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus (Product) Red Special Edition will be available in 128GB and 256GB models starting at $749 (US) from apple.com and Apple Stores.
Commenting on the launch, Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, said,
Since we began working with (RED) 10 years ago, our customers have made a significant impact in fighting the spread of AIDS through the purchase of our products, from the original iPod nano (PRODUCT)RED Special Edition all the way to today’s lineup of Beats products and accessories for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch,
The introduction of this special edition iPhone in a gorgeous red finish is our biggest (PRODUCT)RED offering to date in celebration of our partnership with (RED), and we can’t wait to get it into customers’ hands.
Both special edition models will be available worldwide beginning Friday, March 24 and start shipping to customers by the end of March in the US and more than 40 countries and regions, including Australia, Belgium, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, the UK and United Arab Emirates. Brazil, Chile, Colombia, India, Turkey and other countries will follow in April.
New colors of Apple-designed iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus silicone cases in azure, camellia and pebble, and leather cases in taupe, sapphire, and berry will also be available starting at $35.
Besides announcing the new red iPhone 7, Apple also announced a brand new 9.7-inch iPad that’ll replace the 2014 iPad Air 2.It boasts a 9.7-inch (2048×1536 pixels) Retina display and is powered by Apple’s A9 chip (also used in the iPhones 6S and SE) along with M9 motion coprocessor and a Touch ID fingerprint sensor.The new iPad is also thicker at 7.5mm versus the 6.1mm of the Air 2 because of the larger 32.4Wh battery compared to the 27.62Wh on the Air 2.All the other specifications remain the same as on the iPad Air 2.
iPad comes in silver, gold, and space gray and starts at $329 (US) for the 32GB with Wi-Fi model and $459 (US) for the 32GB Wi-Fi + Cellular model.It’ll be available to order beginning Friday, March 24, from apple.com and starts shipping to customers and arriving next week in Apple Stores, through select carriers and Apple Authorized Resellers in the US and more than 20 countries and regions, including Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK. Denmark, India, Mexico, Norway, Russia, Turkey and other countries and regions will follow in April. Brazil, Taiwan and other countries and regions will follow in May.
The iPad mini 4, now offers more capacity for the same price starting at $399 for the 128GB Wi-Fi model and $529 for the 128GB Wi-Fi + Cellular model.
Apple is also doubling the current capacity of the iPhone SE and replacing 16GB and 64GB models.The iPhone SE will now come in 32GB and 128GB storage variants.It’ll start at $399 (US) and will be available beginning Friday, March 24.
