After months of leaks and rumors, Xiaomi has officially announced the Mi 6, its latest flagship smartphone at an event in Beijing.The Mi 6 is the successor to company’s Mi 5, which was announced in February last year.
Xiaomi Mi 6 Specifications:
The Mi 6 sports a 5.15-inch full-HD (1920 x 1080) pixels display with a pixel density of 428ppi.Under the hood, is a 2.45GHz Snapdragon 835 Octa-Core processor paired with 6GB LPDDR4x RAM and 64GB/128GB internal storage option.
In the optics department, the Mi 6 is equipped with a 12-megapixel wide-angle lens along with a 12-megapixel telephoto lens for 2x lossless zoom.Up front, there’s an 8-megapixel selfie camera.
In the connectivity front, the smartphone offers dual-SIM card slots, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac (2×2 MU-MIMO), Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, and USB Type-C.The Mi 6 runs Xiaomi’s MIUI 8 interface on top of Android 7.1.1 Nougat and is powered by a 3,350mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0.There’s also a fingerprint sensor embedded on the home button.
Xiaomi has also ditched the 3.5mm audio jack but comes with stereo speakers located at the front of the device.The phone is also splash resistant. Xiaomi says all openings including the SIM tray is properly sealed and protected with nano coating but it is not certified for water resistance.
The Xiaomi Mi 6 will come in Bright Blue, Bright Black, and White color options.There’s also an exclusive version with ceramic back and 18K gold rims around the two cameras.Xiaomi at the event also announced a Silver Edition of the Mi 6 which will sport four-sided 3D curves and an ultra reflective mirror finish.
Coming to the pricing, the Xiaomi Mi 6 is priced at CNY 2,499 (~$360 or Rs 23,400) for the 6GB/64GB variant, CNY 2,899 (~$420 or Rs 27,200) for the 6GB/128GB version, while the 6GB RAM/128GB storage variant with the ceramic body will set you back by CNY 2,999 (~$435 or Rs 28,100).It’ll go on sale starting April 28 in China.
