As expected, Motorola has officially announced the 5th generation of Moto G smartphone – the Moto G5 & the Moto G5 Plus at the Mobile World Congress, Barcelona.Both the smartphones are similar in terms of design but slightly differ in terms of specifications.
Moto G5 Specifications & Features:
The Moto G5 has a 5-inch full-HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) and is powered by a 1.4GHz Snapdragon 430 octa-core processor.It comes with 2GB/3GB RAM option and a 16GB inbuilt storage, which can be further expanded up to 128GB via microSD.
The G5 sports a 13-megapixel primary camera with ƒ/2.0 aperture, Phase detect auto-focus (PDAF) and LED flash.Up front, there’s a 5-megapixel selfie shooter with ƒ/2.2 aperture and beautification mode.
In the connectivity department, the handset offers 4G LTE (Cat 4), Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2 BLE, micro USB for charging and data transfer.There’s also a fingerprint sensor embedded in the home button for additional security.The Moto G5 packs a 2,800mAh battery with 10W rapid charging and runs Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box.
As for pricing, the Moto G5 will start at €199 for the 2GB/16GB version and will be available in Lunar Grey and Fine Gold color option.
Moto G5 Plus Specifications & Features:
The Moto G5 Plus, on the other hand, features a slightly bigger 5.2-inch full-HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display with a pixel density of 424ppi.Under the hood, is a 2.0GHz Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor coupled with Adreno 506 GPU.It comes in three variants – the base variant has 2GB RAM and 32GB of storage, the mid variant comes 3GB of RAM and 32GB storage, while the top version features 4GB RAM and 64GB storage.All the variants also have support for microSD for further storage expansion.
In the optics department, the G5 Plus is equipped with a 12-megapixel dual-pixel rear sensor with ƒ/1.7 aperture, 4K Ultra HD video capture (30 fps), and dual LED flash, while the selfie department is handled by a 5-megapixel front shooter with OmniVision OV5695 sensor, and f/2.2 aperture.
As for connectivity, the Moto G5 Plus features dual-SIM card slot, 4G LTE (Cat 6), Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n (2.4 GHz + 5 GHz), Bluetooth 4.2 and 3.5mm headset jack.Other notable features include water repellent nano-coating and Front-ported loud speaker.
It is powered by a slightly larger 3,000 mAh battery and runs on Android 7.0 Nougat.
The Moto G5 Plus will be available in the same Lunar Gray or Fine Gold color option.The base variant with 2GB RAM + 32GB ROM is priced at $ 229, while the 3GB RAM + 32GB storage will cost €279.Both the smartphones will be available in Latin America, Europe, Asia-Pacific and North America, starting early next month.
