After months of leaks and rumors, HTC has finally announced its new flagship smartphones- the HTC U Ultra and HTC U Play.The new handsets feature a metal frame with curved glass on the back.Inside the rear glass are layers of colored minerals that reflect light in interesting ways and add visual depth, creating what HTC calls a “liquid surface”.
The smartphones also comes with a new HTC Sense Companion software that uses an AI to learn about you and offer intelligent suggestions.Both the devices also ditches the regular 3.5mm audio jack for a USB Type-C port.
HTC U Ultra Specifications & Features:
The U Ultra flaunts a 5.7-inch Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) display with a secondary 2.0-inch (160 x 1040 pixels) screen on top.Under the hood, is a 2.15GHz Snapdragon 821 processor paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of expandable storage (up to 2TB).
In the camera department, the smartphone is equipped with a 12-megapixel (HTC UltraPixel 2 with 1.55μm pixel) rear camera with ƒ/1.8 aperture, PDAF, Laser focus Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), and Dual tone LED flash.Upfront there’s a 16-megapixel (HTC UltraPixel) selfie shooter with f/2.0 aperture.As for connectivity, the handset offers dual-SIM card slot, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (2.4 & 5 GHz), Bluetooth 4.2, NFC and USB 3.1 Type-C port.
The HTC U Ultra runs Android 7.0 Nougat with HTC Sense on top.It is powered by a 3,000 mAh with support for Quick Charge 3.0.
The U Ultra will be offered in Sapphire Blue, Cosmetic Pink, Brilliant Black and Ice White color options and will be available for pre-order from htc.com for $750 (~ Rs 51,000) starting today.

The HTC U Play, on the other hand, features a 5.2-inch full-HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display with a pixel density of 428ppi.Inside there’s a 64-bit MediaTek Helio P10 octa-core processor coupled Mali T860 GPU.It comes in two variants – the base model comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage while the top end variant has 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.Both the variants also come with microSD support (up to 2TB) for storage expansion.
Above the screen lies a 16-megapixel selfie shooter with f/2.0 aperture and around the back sits a 16-megapixel rear shooter with f/2.0 aperture, PDAF, OIS and dual-tone LED flash.In terms of connectivity, the smartphone offers dual-SIM card slot, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (2.4 & 5 GHz), Bluetooth 4.2, NFC and USB 3.1 Type-C port.
It is backed by a 2,500 mAh battery and runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box.
The HTC U Play will come in Sapphire Blue, Cosmetic Pink, Brilliant Black and Ice White color options.There is no word on the availability, price of the HTC U Play.
