Dell has finally announced a hybrid version of its popular XPS 13 laptop at CES 2017.Dubbed XPS 13 2-in-1, the laptop features the same Infinity Display seen on the original XPS 13. Dell claims the new XPS 13 is the “smallest 13-inch 2-in-1” device on the planet.

The XPS 13 2-in-1 comes in two variants – the first one features a 3.3-inch full-HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display while the second variant flaunts a UltraSharp Quad-HD+ (3200 x 1800 pixels) display.Dell says that the new XPS 13 2-in-1 is 15% smaller than the HP Spectre 360, 17% smaller than the Lenovo Yoga 900 and 910.Inside there’s a 7th generation Intel’s Kaby Lake processors (i5-7Y54 clocked at 3.2GHz or i7-7Y75 clocked at 3.6GHZ), paired with 4GB/8GB/16GB of RAM, and 128GB/256GB/512GB/1TB SSD.It is powered by a 46WHr battery that promises 15 hours with the Full HD display for productivity applications and 9 hours of Netflix streaming.
As for connectivity, the XPS 13 2-in-1 offers 2 x USB Type-C ports, a Thunderbolt 3 port, a DisplayPort, and a headset jack.Other notable features include two Waves MaxxAudio Pro tuned speakers, an infrared webcam, and a Windows Hello enabled fingerprint reader to easily and securely unlock the system with a touch.Dell has also removed its full SD card reader and opted for a micro SD slot.There’s no traditional USB Type-A port on either machine, but Dell will ship each one with an adapter.
The laptop can be used in four different modes – the Laptop Mode, Tablet Mode, Stand Mode, and Tent Mode.Similar to the regular XPS 13, the new XPS 13 2-in-1 includes an anti-reflective coating on the display, and it’s an IPS panel which lets you enjoy 170° views on a 400-nit screen.
The Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 will be available starting January 5 on Dell.com and at Best Buy in the United States starting at $999.
